I had the opportunity to see Oprah’s Last Show.  It was so uplifting, inspirational and she was truly authenitic.  One of the most inspiring farewell shows I have ever seen.

I never had the opportunity to watch Oprah very much over the 25 years.  I was always working.  But, for the last few months, I was able to capture a few of her shows since I work from home now.

WOW, she is such an amazing and inspiring person.  She truly speaks from her heart!  There is so many people that are going to miss her.

Anyway, I saw this website being shared on my FanPage and it was done by a lady named Lynn Rose and she has gone about and made a transcript of the words from Oprah’s last show. I hope you find this uplifting and inspiring and eventually find your calling to give unto others.

Thanks Oprah for your special gifts!  You have been a blessing is so many people’s eyes.  All the best!

And a special Thank You to all of you for your support!

Using Mobile Apps In Your Business

Posted by: | Comments (5)

There is a lot of work and understanding of the development process in creating an app.  Apps can be very, very effective to increase sales, create a new stream of on-line customers (increase client base), promoting your business, etc, etc.  However, app development is a very expensive and lengthy development process.

Since I work in the Mobile and Local Internet arena I get asked a lot, by entrepreneurs around the world, if I would help them in developing an app for Mobile.  Unfortunately, I am not a software developer. There hasn’t been much public information around this topic from Google nor developers of the hows in developing an App until recently.  I always kept this in my radar to help my clients and promised them that as soon as I hear of any information pertaining to this I would post it on my blog.  So today I would like to share with you breaking news by Wayne Pan from Google on this very topic.  Wayne Pan is a Software Engineer at Google and he explains this so well.  It is about 36 min. long but so well worth the time.

If any business is thinking of developing their own App, I encourage you to watch the following video from Wayne.  You should also check out Google‘s new guide to the app galaxy and learn more.

I would love to hear your stories on your new app development.  Please share!

Justice Has Been Done!

Posted by: | Comments (7)

Following last night’s (May 1) presidential address and announcement that Bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan – nearly ten years after 2001′s 9/11 tragedy – many took to Social Media, Mobile and the streets of Washington to share their thoughts.

Bin Laden has received what he deserved!  I hate to say this so profoundly but, “Pay Back is a …..!”  It is about time he got back what he deserved.

Although I was not personally nor professionally affected by the means of Bin Laden’s brutal attacks, so many of my colleagues, clients, family and friends were.  I felt so bad for the loss of lives and businesses back on 9/11 and I have prayed for justice ever since.  For those who where affected by 9/11 I pray that you all receive some kind of piece that Bin Laden’s death has finally arrived of which allows you and your love ones to move on.   Bin Laden’s death will never bring back your love ones but I pray that this event will bring you all closure knowing Bin Laden has been cased out as bait to the sea.

Finally justice has been done!

Here’s how some Canadians reacted to Bin Laden’s Death.

People are finding some really creative uses for QR codes; putting them on buildings, business cards, in store windows, on coffee cups, on posters, and lots of other places, but they really do make nice body art and look a whole lot nicer than having your phone number tattooed on your back, arms, etc.

What a conversational piece!  Instead of giving out your long website address, have your friends and family take a picture of your tattoo.  Then they will have your website on their iPhone instantly.  How cool is that!  Talk about going green. This is a great way of having a wee bit of fun with QR codes. Mmmm, Mobile and Local Marketing they say?

By the way, if you scan this code it really works. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

"The QR Body Art"

This article came across my desk today. When it first appeared I said to myself, “Yuks, Lady Gaga? Mmmmm Justin Beiber? What do they have in common? Well I’ll read it anyway.”  I am so glad I did.   I have to be quite honest with you here, Lady Gaga isn’t one of my favorite artist. In the media there has been no real good story about her that gave me the opportunity to really know her story until now.  I am really impressed by Anderson Cooper’s interview.  You need to watch this.

Well, when it comes to Justin Beiber, well you might say I am a wee bit bias.  He is a Canadian and his family lives not to far from me.  He has always shared his story and people have really got to like him fast.  I died laughing at the David Letterman’s interview with him.  You need to watch it.

I was intrigued by these two stories.  We really didn’t know them until around 2008 when their careers really took off.  Yet they have built their brand within a few years to a multi-million dollar enterprise dispute the many, many thousands of great artists and singers.  So, I ask you this question, “Despite all your competition within your niche what makes you stand out, what makes you unique that makes you millions?”  There is a lesson to be learned here for all us entrepreneurs.  I challenge all entrepreneurs, no matter what niche, to think outside the box and create your own uniqueness to develop their multi-million dollar brand.

Please feel free to share this blog and inspire the millions of entrepreneurs out there to create their own uniqueness within their niche to create the wealth so they too can “Live their dream lifestyle”.  Would love to hear your stories.

Enjoy!

Domino’s Pizza is recognized as the world’s leading pizza delivery company. Their expertise and passion for delivering hot and fresh pizzas has earned them numerous awards and the loyalty of millions of pizza lovers around the world.

Their division Domino’s Pizza UK & IRL, really understands the importance of adding Mobile Marketing to their already Marketing strategies and it has paid off for them, big time!  In reviewing their app, it is really apparent to me that they have also maintained their brand name awareness through their Mobile strategy.  This is a wonderful and inspiring read.  Enjoy!

I found this rather an interesting read this morning.  As per Newswire, Chicago:

  • 1/4 of companies leverage social media to recruit and research potential employees
  • 25% of companies connect with their clients and find new business
  • 35% of employers use social media to promote their company
  • 29% of companies with less than 500 employees utilize social media
  • more than 1/2 of leisure and hospitality organizations use social media

As companies emerge from one of the steepest economic downturns in history, they understand the significant reach and importance of using social media to promote and rebuild their organizations. It is so great to here because when I ran my brick and mortar business facebook had a terrible rap.  It was known as the college student’s toy.  It was never thought as a business builder for clients and revenue.

But times are changing and changing fast!  Social media for business hasn’t been around all that long at least the marketing strategy concept of increasing client base and revenue builder.  At our local college near my hometown, their marketing course barely touch on Internet Marketing in last year’s (2008-2009) curriculum.  Social media allows organizations to communicate in ways that didn’t exist ten or even five years ago, promoting their services and brands while also supplementing their recruitment strategy.  There are a lot of businesses out there that still think old school and I really hate to think that in these tough economic times that if they don’t embrass this new way of marketing for their business…they are going to be left behind.  Because MOBILE MARKETING is here and it is here to stay!

Newswire, Chicago reported that when it came to businesses managing social media strategy, 43 percent of employers report that their marketing department handles social media outreach, followed by public relations (26 percent) and human resources (19 percent). One-quarter (25 percent) of employers have 1-3 people communicating on behalf of their organization, while 7 percent report that 4-5 people handle the work. Eleven percent said that more than six people communicate for their company via social media. Fifty-seven percent said they didn’t know. Read More→

WOW, I’ve had a challenging afternoon with my MAC.  Actually, I have been experiencing this problem for several months now  and today it really got me frustrated!  So I have to share this frustrated issue and the solution with my readers in efforts to help you all if you where to have the same problem.

Here is the problem…for about 3 months now my MAC periodically disconnects from the internet.  Recently it began more frequently.  I would be in the middle of a project and my Firefox browser would stop working.  Then my emails would stop coming into my inbox and links would slowly load.  So I would have to turn my MAC off and re-boot it.

First, because I purchased my MAC last year and didn’t open the box till February of this year of which I lost over 8 months of FREE support.  That was a surprise because Apple support goes by your purchase date not when you set it up.  So if you are thinking of buying a MAC, at least get it out of the box, set it up and start practicing with it. That is of course if you are a new MAC user like me.  Anyway…….

Secondly,  here is the BIG problem.  I have called Apple support many times in dealing with this issue.  They always referred me to call my router company…Dlink.  I would then call them, they would have me set up a new user name and password to tell me I was good to go, I would hang up and then within about an hour the problem would start all again.

UNTIL TODAY!  YAHOO!  I finally got the answer and everything works well now!   A representative from Apple helped me out big time!  Apple really took the time with me today….and I didn’t even know her! LOL!

Here is the solution: MAC’s only work well when communicating to the router in wireless mode with a WPA password configuration.  When you are setting up a router and you are going to connect it remotely with a MAC make sure the router is set as follows:

WPA – MODE – should be set to “WPA only”
SECURITY MODE – should be set to “WPA – Personal”

If you use these settings….everything should work fine!  This solution will save you tons of frustrated hours trying to figure it out.

I still love my MAC!  Thank you APPLE!
