There is a lot of work and understanding of the development process in creating an app. Apps can be very, very effective to increase sales, create a new stream of on-line customers (increase client base), promoting your business, etc, etc. However, app development is a very expensive and lengthy development process.
Since I work in the Mobile and Local Internet arena I get asked a lot, by entrepreneurs around the world, if I would help them in developing an app for Mobile. Unfortunately, I am not a software developer. There hasn’t been much public information around this topic from Google nor developers of the hows in developing an App until recently. I always kept this in my radar to help my clients and promised them that as soon as I hear of any information pertaining to this I would post it on my blog. So today I would like to share with you breaking news by Wayne Pan from Google on this very topic. Wayne Pan is a Software Engineer at Google and he explains this so well. It is about 36 min. long but so well worth the time.
I would love to hear your stories on your new app development. Please share!
As I visit my local community businesses and work with many around the world, it amazes me the number of businesses that are not aware of the next generation of advertising their business, gaining clients and adding revenue to your business. I always share this video link with them because it explains it to them within 5 minutes. This always inspires them in thinking of ways that they can increase their profitability.
It has been so helpful to others, I thought I would share it with you. I hope this helps your business as it is an important step to working with your offline marketing strategies. Enjoy!
Happy Mother’s Day!
I spent most of the day, enjoying time with my family, so this blog post is out a wee bit late in the day. I received this sweet video from my mentor Christina Hills and I wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!
I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Following last night’s (May 1) presidential address and announcement that Bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan – nearly ten years after 2001’s 9/11 tragedy – many took to Social Media, Mobile and the streets of Washington to share their thoughts.
Bin Laden has received what he deserved! I hate to say this so profoundly but, “Pay Back is a …..!” It is about time he got back what he deserved.
Although I was not personally nor professionally affected by the means of Bin Laden’s brutal attacks, so many of my colleagues, clients, family and friends were. I felt so bad for the loss of lives and businesses back on 9/11 and I have prayed for justice ever since. For those who where affected by 9/11 I pray that you all receive some kind of piece that Bin Laden’s death has finally arrived of which allows you and your love ones to move on. Bin Laden’s death will never bring back your love ones but I pray that this event will bring you all closure knowing Bin Laden has been cased out as bait to the sea.
Finally justice has been done!
People are finding some really creative uses for QR codes; putting them on buildings, business cards, in store windows, on coffee cups, on posters, and lots of other places, but they really do make nice body art and look a whole lot nicer than having your phone number tattooed on your back, arms, etc.
What a conversational piece! Instead of giving out your long website address, have your friends and family take a picture of your tattoo. Then they will have your website on their iPhone instantly. How cool is that! Talk about going green. This is a great way of having a wee bit of fun with QR codes. Mmmm, Mobile and Local Marketing they say?
By the way, if you scan this code it really works. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
This article came across my desk today. When it first appeared I said to myself, “Yuks, Lady Gaga? Mmmmm Justin Beiber? What do they have in common? Well I’ll read it anyway.” I am so glad I did. I have to be quite honest with you here, Lady Gaga isn’t one of my favorite artist. In the media there has been no real good story about her that gave me the opportunity to really know her story until now. I am really impressed by Anderson Cooper’s interview. You need to watch this.
Well, when it comes to Justin Beiber, well you might say I am a wee bit bias. He is a Canadian and his family lives not to far from me. He has always shared his story and people have really got to like him fast. I died laughing at the David Letterman’s interview with him. You need to watch it.
I was intrigued by these two stories. We really didn’t know them until around 2008 when their careers really took off. Yet they have built their brand within a few years to a multi-million dollar enterprise dispute the many, many thousands of great artists and singers. So, I ask you this question, “Despite all your competition within your niche what makes you stand out, what makes you unique that makes you millions?” There is a lesson to be learned here for all us entrepreneurs. I challenge all entrepreneurs, no matter what niche, to think outside the box and create your own uniqueness to develop their multi-million dollar brand.
Please feel free to share this blog and inspire the millions of entrepreneurs out there to create their own uniqueness within their niche to create the wealth so they too can “Live their dream lifestyle”. Would love to hear your stories.

I came across this video tonight and felt inspired to share. Challenges in life are there for personal development.
I know the content of this post doesn’t really seem to have any connection with my teachings on Mobile and Local Internet Marketing but in a sense I feel it does. As entrepreneurs, including myself, we sometimes help others so we can get the job done faster but yet it will come back to haunt us later because others will not be able to learn and grow giving us the time to focus on our own tasks.
As one comment said, “Sometimes we try to do good and cause harm unintentionally. So true, thank you for the reminder of the things we sometimes fail to see, there’s a rhyme and a reason for everything in life. Spiritual growth sometimes happens through the oddest of situations”
For every business today, they must have a mobile presence to reach their clients. They MUST also prepare their mobile site for the upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If any business has a commerce site, it is especially critical for check and make sure your landing pages has the ability to handle the spikes in hits. Driving people to a mobile-commerce enabled site that is experiencing long load times due to a surge in traffic is a set up for failure.
Retailers must integrate their mobile Web offerings with current online marketing strategies. Let consumers know about your mobile web site. With the mobile web quickly becoming the place to shop, search and find deals, retailers will be missing the large percentage of their customers that want to shop, research, find and browse their stores from the mobile. People these days are comparing prices while in your store! Retailers also need to realize that their customers are no longer sitting and browsing the internet as much as they used to, with the rapid growth of smart phones and feature phones having access to the mobile internet, and the amount of retailers that are realizing the need to have their sites mobile friendly, not just app friendly, customers are looking for their favorite retailers to be on mobile.
“This is huge for any business these day. It is not a matter if you could, it is a matter that you will loose customers if you are not on mobile these days!
For example, ad campaigns that do not have a click-through, and are built in HTML imagery that is not transferable to the mobile email or internet can cause a retailer to lose a customer. Additionally, marketing efforts with an email click-through getting lost in an abyss can be very frustrating to consumers.
Mobile internet optimization is different from online internet optimization because of screen size, OS platform fragmentation, consumer dwell time and the carrier bandwidth difference. Retailers must measure the speed and reliability of their mobile Web sites to prepare for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Measuring early will enable retailers to identify customer segments where performance is slow and take proactive measures to ensure that mobile Web site performance will be as fast and reliable as it can be when the holiday season arrives.
“Retailers need to identify their key customer segments and optimize their mobile sites for these customers. Optimizing your site means making sure that site content loads quickly and renders properly on the screens of the most popular devices used by your customers. I also recommend preparing an ad campaign to go out frequently of your specials. Keeping in the eyes of your customers on Mobile is SEXY to them. They love it!
When it comes to loading content quickly, not only do retailers need to gauge the mobile Web experience from the true user perspective, but they can also benefit from leveraging new industry benchmarks that rank the mobile Web performance of major retailers across four major platforms.
