Did You See Brendon On Anderson Cooper Friday?

As many of you know I have several mentors and  I only refer to you the best of the best!

I wanted to send out this post to you as my mentor Brendon Burchard was on the Anderson Cooper show this past Friday.  If you didn’t see it, it was amazing and Brendon gave away $10,000.00 to the family’s cause plus he did this amazing video for Anderson that I didn’t want you to miss.

Yes…it is FREE and also GREAT content!

I’m sharing this with you for two reasons. Firstly, I am not sure if you saw the show but more importantly Brendon shares a lot of information of how Charities can raise money for their cause on Anderson’s website and I didn’t want you to miss it.  Brendon shares a lot of FREE content to help you raise money for your charity or get your message out there in a BIG way.

As I have said before, I have either been a student, worked with or follow the most influential and inspiring leaders in this world of which many of them are so giving and caring in a BIG way.  I will only share with you the best leaders and/or the best products and services I use, trust and value.

Brendon Burchard is one of those people.  I am quite honored to call Brendon my mentor.  He is amazing and gives back to others in such a big way! Plus he shares GREAT information for your cause or business that could help you so much!  He’s been on the Anderson’s show twice in the last few months, helping families learn how to share their message.

The last appearance of Brendon on Anderson Cooper went so well, Anderson asked him to shoot a training video for his website. It’s on “How You Can Raise Money And Partners For Your Cause” and/or message.

Click on Brendon’s and Anderson pic below to watch Brendon’s video on Anderson’s site:

I hope this helps you get some insight as to how to market your cause or business on the internet.

As a student of Brendon, I follow his format.  If there is anything I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact through my website.

All the best in raising money for your cause or your business!

Tuesday afternoon Facebook introduced their app for mobile phones that acts as a standalone group chat client for mobile operating systems. The app, now live for download, expands the chat features in Facebook’s existing mobile appto include features like location-sharing, mobile photo-sharing, and — most importantly — instant messaging to friends or groups on Facebook. The app is already available for Android and Blackberry phones along with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad (although the app is not yet optimized for the iPad’s larger screen..   I downloaded this app on my Android mobile phone.  I did all the log in stuff and it works pretty cool.  Although I don’t chat a whole lot I probably won’t use it that much so I can see deleting it to save some space on my mobile phone.  But it is a good app it you like to chat.  Price is free but there is a paid version for $4.21 (CDN)

This new Facebook “Go Chat”shows you a clear overview of your friends in the chat, making it easy to chat with multiple friends without getting confused.  Go! Chat Facebook is a very feature rich application that is actively developed further, which is always good news for the user. It’s already very popular and widely used among many android phone users.

Some of its features include leaving voice messages, automated away messages, the use of smileys, sharing photos etc. Great app if you’re a facebook user.

FEATURES:  chat via facebook, share photos, leave voice messages, easy and secure login, use favorites and much more

Scan barcode to download

(how can I use my android phone to scan barcode and download?)

Facebook purchased messaging firm Beluga back in March which Beluga team members have had a hand in the app’s creation. The timing of the release along with its features seems like a fairly direct response to Google+ and its huddles feature that also lets you instantly chat with friends.

Facebook has repeatedly denied that the flurry of recent announcements from the social networking giant and the company’s chat releases, like video calling in partnership with Skype were a response to Google‘s new social network, but the parallels are hard to ignore. With Google+ growing to more than 25 million users in just a little over a month, it’s hard to imagine that Facebook isn’t at least a little threatened.

Google+ released an update to its own app earlier this week that brought increased functionality for the nascent social network’s own chat services along with iPad compatibility.

Mobi Highlights With Case Study:  Taranta

What’s black and white and read all over? Five years ago the answer was a newspaper, but times have changed. Now the answer is…a QR code.

In its simplest definition, a QR code is a two-dimensional barcode. QR stands for “quick response” and while it might look like a black and white kaleidoscope from the 1980s, the codes hold practical business purposes and are popping up all over the place.

With the help of a smartphone or iPad, consumers can download a free app that enables them to scan the barcode, which directs them to a website or webpage of the business, product or service.

Rather than bombarding the viewer with too much info, a QR serves as a quick link to viewers/customers interested in learning more about a business, product or service.

Already immensely popular in Japan, South Korea and other parts of Asia, QR codes are starting to gain momentum in the US and Canada.

Indeed, they are popping up everywhere from e-mail signatures and  business cardsto “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and even gravestones.

When a QR code is placed in a storefront’s window, shoppers can simply scan the code and instantly learn more about the designers featured in the window display or available inventory. In this sense, QR codes help bring offline customers online. QR codes can help improve your sales.  Have a printed QR code on offline advertising material and offer your customers a compelling offer of your product or service.

Case Study:   Taranta

In 2000, Taranta opened as a southern Italian restaurant. Four years later Chef and Owner Jose Duarte discovered he wasn’t alone: there were more than 250 Italian restaurants within his two-mile radius. Knowing he needed to make his restaurant stand out in a saturated market, he decided to marry Peruvian cuisine with Italian technique.

Duarte found his inspiration for QR codes six years ago at a conference in Madrid when he saw Japanese chef Seiji Yamamoto using a generic edible code linking to a recipe. Duarte wanted to replicate it, but he had to wait until January 2011 for the device to be ready for the U.S.  A customized QR code was designed for Taranta with the shape of a fish on it (as seen above).

Taranta also has rubber stamp QR codes and silk screen QR codes on fish orders so customers can scan the code on the plate to find out where and when the fish was caught, by whom and when it was delivered to the restaurant.  Duarte didn’t stop there in his self-proclaimed “code madness” – he even created a branding iron to stamp a corn tortilla with a QR.

QR codes aren’t the only new media Taranta uses; six years ago Duarte started a blog and he’s also on Facebook and Twitter.

Duarte said Mobile technology is an important way of connecting with foodies. “Mobile technology is growing very fast. We want to be ahead.”

But while Duarte offers his patrons shiny new toys, he’s a proponent of old-fashioned table manners. “I’m not intending to have my customers scan codes during dinner. I consider the use of Mobile devices during dinner very distracting and impolite.”

Primarily, Duarte intends the codes to be used in demos, classes or with customers interested in food sourcing. Plus, tracking the fish also serves an internal sourcing purpose for Taranta.

Duarte plans to also start posting the QR code outside of the restaurant to create coupons or promotions to increase business. “We are at the experimental stages but through our QR codes and website, our customers can seamlessly navigate our menu, make reservations, find out specials, coupons…they can even pay ahead for a glass of wine at dinner.”

My recommendation is you have a name for your small business.  You set up a Web site and Hosting on your own so you own this internet real estate.  You set up an autoresponder to capture online clients which is a great source of increasing client base.  You start an email campaign.  You start blogging and referring customers to your website for purchasing so you are seeing profits from it. What’s next? You could set up a profile page on a social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.  These social sites allow you to virtually shout your company’s message from a technological rooftop.

If you require assistance in helping your business getting this setup please visit our list of services.  You may also fill out the Contact form, write us an email.  Wishing your business much success!

Google Chromebook
Google Chromebook

Google has announced their own laptop called the Chromebook came out on Wednesday. They are optimized for the web with the goal to provide a faster system for browsing the web and doing things online you love doing already.

Chromebooks are designed to boot in 8-10 seconds and resume instantly. Your sites should run faster and smoother because of the system being designed solely for web use.

With any type of new device you can either use a wifi connection or 3g connection that is offered by Verizon. Currently you get 100MB per month however if you need more you can always upgrade the account. While 3g is a nice option it’s also an option which you are going to end up paying a lot of money for. Lets be honest, anywhere you want to use your laptop anymore I am sure you can find a hot spot or even use the new droid as a hotspot if you have one.

What really makes this laptop unique is running it off of a cloud. Simply put that means the laptop has no hard drive and all your apps and data are instead saved on a server somewhere in Google land. This means you can use any chromebook and login to your account and pick up the same web experience you would even with someone elses chromebook. Web apps such as games, spreadsheets and photos can be used often times without even being connected to the web which will improve the power of the system. Also your apps stay up to date increasing the value of your chromebook over time instead of reducing it which is the case of many traditional laptops as hardware gets old.

What the Series 5 Is Made Of

The Series 5 measures about 0.8 inches high — roughly the same height as a penny stood on edge. It has a 12.1-inch anti-reflective, anti-glare SuperBright display with 300nit brightness. SuperBright is Samsung’s name for its glossy screen.

A “nit” is a measure of luminance, meaning the amount of light that passes through or is emitted from a particular area falling within a given solid angle. It’s used to characterize the brightness of displays. A typical computer display is rated at between 50 nits and 300 nits.

The Series 5 Chromebook weighs 3.3 pounds. It has a battery life of up to 8.5 hours and has an Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) Dual-core Atom N570 processor.

It has 2GB of memory and a 16GB solid state drive.

The device comes with a full-sized Chrome keyboard and an oversized multi-touch trackpad. It starts up in less than 10 seconds, and resumes instantly from standby. It has two USB ports.

Connectivity is provided through 3G, WLAN, and a four-in-one card reader.

The Samsung Chromebook comes bundled with up to 100 MB per month of mobile broadband service from Verizon for two years.

The top companies that will be building these laptops are Acer and Samsung. They can be bought either through Amazon or Best buy.

Overall I think this is an innovative step in taking laptops and the internet to a whole new level. I am not sure if people are yet ready for a cloud based laptop but I applaud Google for being fresh and innovative yet again.

Using Mobile Apps In Your Business

Posted by: | Comments (5)

There is a lot of work and understanding of the development process in creating an app.  Apps can be very, very effective to increase sales, create a new stream of on-line customers (increase client base), promoting your business, etc, etc.  However, app development is a very expensive and lengthy development process.

Since I work in the Mobile and Local Internet arena I get asked a lot, by entrepreneurs around the world, if I would help them in developing an app for Mobile.  Unfortunately, I am not a software developer. There hasn’t been much public information around this topic from Google nor developers of the hows in developing an App until recently.  I always kept this in my radar to help my clients and promised them that as soon as I hear of any information pertaining to this I would post it on my blog.  So today I would like to share with you breaking news by Wayne Pan from Google on this very topic.  Wayne Pan is a Software Engineer at Google and he explains this so well.  It is about 36 min. long but so well worth the time.

If any business is thinking of developing their own App, I encourage you to watch the following video from Wayne.  You should also check out Google‘s new guide to the app galaxy and learn more.

I would love to hear your stories on your new app development.  Please share!

Domino’s Pizza is recognized as the world’s leading pizza delivery company. Their expertise and passion for delivering hot and fresh pizzas has earned them numerous awards and the loyalty of millions of pizza lovers around the world.

Their division Domino’s Pizza UK & IRL, really understands the importance of adding Mobile Marketing to their already Marketing strategies and it has paid off for them, big time!  In reviewing their app, it is really apparent to me that they have also maintained their brand name awareness through their Mobile strategy.  This is a wonderful and inspiring read.  Enjoy!

I found this rather an interesting read this morning.  As per Newswire, Chicago:

  • 1/4 of companies leverage social media to recruit and research potential employees
  • 25% of companies connect with their clients and find new business
  • 35% of employers use social media to promote their company
  • 29% of companies with less than 500 employees utilize social media
  • more than 1/2 of leisure and hospitality organizations use social media

As companies emerge from one of the steepest economic downturns in history, they understand the significant reach and importance of using social media to promote and rebuild their organizations. It is so great to here because when I ran my brick and mortar business facebook had a terrible rap.  It was known as the college student’s toy.  It was never thought as a business builder for clients and revenue.

But times are changing and changing fast!  Social media for business hasn’t been around all that long at least the marketing strategy concept of increasing client base and revenue builder.  At our local college near my hometown, their marketing course barely touch on Internet Marketing in last year’s (2008-2009) curriculum.  Social media allows organizations to communicate in ways that didn’t exist ten or even five years ago, promoting their services and brands while also supplementing their recruitment strategy.  There are a lot of businesses out there that still think old school and I really hate to think that in these tough economic times that if they don’t embrass this new way of marketing for their business…they are going to be left behind.  Because MOBILE MARKETING is here and it is here to stay!

Newswire, Chicago reported that when it came to businesses managing social media strategy, 43 percent of employers report that their marketing department handles social media outreach, followed by public relations (26 percent) and human resources (19 percent). One-quarter (25 percent) of employers have 1-3 people communicating on behalf of their organization, while 7 percent report that 4-5 people handle the work. Eleven percent said that more than six people communicate for their company via social media. Fifty-seven percent said they didn’t know. Read More→

The following tips will help you write a professional, concise and powerful news release:

Proofread: I recommend that you write your press release in a Word or other text document instead of writing it directly on the online submit page. Writing online will not achieve the best results. Write your press release, print it, and proofread. Rewrite and then proofread again. The more time you take to do it right, the better your company’s first impression.

Start Strong: Your headline, summary and first paragraph should clarify your news. The rest of your news or press release should provide the detail. You only have a matter of seconds to grab your readers’ attention, so you want to capture it with a strong opening.

Identify Yourself: If your news or press release does not identify the source of the information and news within the first few paragraphs, you may lose the promotional value your release can provide. Readers want to know who is talking; letting them know builds the credibility of the release and promotes your name and brand online. Read More→

WHY AFFILIATE MARKETING?

Posted by: | Comments (43)

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER AFFILIATE MARKETING?

Now that you know there are people out there making money as AFFILIATES and that there are major companies needing this service, you might be asking why you personally should consider becoming an AFFILIATE and why you should put the time, money and effort into being a PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATE MARKETER.

MONEY

I will start with the most expendable reason—money.  Why invest your hard earned cash into building a business as an internet marketer?  Quite simply, because building an AFFILIATE business is one of the absolute least expensive businesses you could be in.  If you have already a business with a website then it is primarily just an add on.  It doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.  Being an AFFILIATE is free.  All you have to do is sign up or register with the product provider and you’re in!

But what about websites and hosting?  Those can be had for free as well.  Should you choose to upgrade to a more flexible and higher quality site, you can do that for very little money!  Even if you’re not a programmer or know nothing at all creating websites, coding and everything behind the scenes of website building, you can have a website with user-friendly templates for fewer than ten dollars a month.  That is no lie.  These sites are out there.  One popluar site
