This is one of the reason I love what I do.  Mobile and Local Internet Marketing is my passion.  I love to help entrepreneurs with their QR code strategies.  But this is even better…QR codes used for finding missing children?  WOW!  While QR codes have been used in countless marketing and social media campaigns, did you know that they are also being used to find missing persons?

Stephen Watkins, a Canadian father searching for his two missing sons, suggested the idea to add QR codes to missing children posters in order to assist police and passersby in finding them.

Another father, Henry Da Massa is still hopefully that he will find his daughter, Pearl, and has also been using QR codes. “It just bridges that gap between someone seeing something and having to make a mental note to look it up later,” said Da Massa.

In addition to parents of missing children, the Toronto Police have also been using QR codes on missing persons posters. “These new smartphones, that’s the basis of a lot of the newer generation communication and we need to reach everybody” said Const. Wendy Drummond, Toronto Police Services.

Using QR code technology to get the word out reaches a much wider audience than in the former days of the milk carton, and also allows for the inclusion of more photos of the missing person.

Do you think QR codes will help in finding missing persons? Let us know by commenting below, or on our Facebook or Twitter pages.

Mobile Marketing Power

Posted by: | Comments (12)

Mobile marketing, a permission-based marketing tool, is making waves across the internet and rapidly becoming a major communications channel for reaching customers. Mobile Marketing has tremendous power for our business.

According to an independent survey from Airwide Solutions in 2009, 200 million Americans carry mobile phones and today there is over 5 million phones on our planet. This is more than cars, computers, tv’s etc. In addition, this study reports that 40 percent of major brands have deployed text messaging (also known as SMS, or short message service) campaigns. Nearly 40 million U.S. consumers received SMS advertisements, and 12 percent responded to them, according to the Metrics Study, “Cracking the Mobile Marketing Code.”

Text messaging, also known as SMS, allows short messages (between 140 – 160 characters) to be sent from one cell phone to another or from a mobile messaging platform. This unique way of communicating with your clients and market has capabilities such as website link inserts in the actual text, invitations to enter contests or take surveys and polls, ringtone downloads, mobile coupons, location-based information, and cause donation campaigns, to name a few. By using this platform to inform and send out call-to-action campaigns that will get people back to your site or to your location, you can build a powerful new link to your current connections and use contests to build a larger list. Go to any store, newspaper stand, doctor’s office, etc. everyone these days carry a cell phone and they are constantly using them to talk and search. We all are so busy these days that Mobile activity is replacing Desktop activity and soon the yellow page book will be history!

Is your business easy to access by your clients on their Mobile phones?  Would you like help?

When Nielsen published “What Americans Do Online”, it revealed that social networking and social gaming both beat out e-mail to dominate the time users spend online…on the desktop. However, it also revealed another interesting trend–when it comes to mobile online activity from devices like smartphones, e-mail is king.

Mobile e-mail is quickly replacing desktop e-mail as the primary means of messaging. According to the Nielsen study measuring online activity of 200,000 users and comparing results from 2010 to the previous year, e-mail use on the desktop dropped from 12 percent to 8.3 percent, and fell into third place behind social gaming like Farmville. Meanwhile, time spent on e-mail on mobile devices went up from 37 percent to 42 percent–clearly dominating other mobile online activities.

The trend highlights the increased reliance on mobile computing platforms like smartphones and tablets. A survey earlier this year from RingCentral found that 34 percent of business professionals conduct more business from the smartphone than from a desktop PC. It also revealed that more than 80 percent would give up coffee before they would surrender their smartphone.

The good news for messaging platforms like Microsoft Exchange is that many smartphones–like the iPhone–are able to tap into the Exchange Server backend. However, the Nielsen survey may be bad news for desktop e-mail clients such as Read More→

WHY AFFILIATE MARKETING?

Posted by: | Comments (43)

WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER AFFILIATE MARKETING?

Now that you know there are people out there making money as AFFILIATES and that there are major companies needing this service, you might be asking why you personally should consider becoming an AFFILIATE and why you should put the time, money and effort into being a PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATE MARKETER.

MONEY

I will start with the most expendable reason—money.  Why invest your hard earned cash into building a business as an internet marketer?  Quite simply, because building an AFFILIATE business is one of the absolute least expensive businesses you could be in.  If you have already a business with a website then it is primarily just an add on.  It doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.  Being an AFFILIATE is free.  All you have to do is sign up or register with the product provider and you’re in!

But what about websites and hosting?  Those can be had for free as well.  Should you choose to upgrade to a more flexible and higher quality site, you can do that for very little money!  Even if you’re not a programmer or know nothing at all creating websites, coding and everything behind the scenes of website building, you can have a website with user-friendly templates for fewer than ten dollars a month.  That is no lie.  These sites are out there.  One popluar site
