I wanted to share this story with you as there are so many lessons to be learned from local business principles that can help re-build a city. The leader behind this story is a person that I admire for his leadership and principles when it comes to helping out local business on the reality show The Profit…Marcus Lemonis. Whether you are a local business owner or not, things can happen to people and businesses of which there may come a time you have to re-build. I’m writing this blog as I was extremely humbled, and hoping it helps others, on how Marcus took the same principles he teaches us on the reality show The Profit, to help a town that was in total despair and needed re-building strategies and a plan. Local business principles to help a city? Really? That is awesome!
Actually when I sat down and gave it some serious thought, Marcus’s local business strategies can be used in politics. Whether it is a city, town, business, government, I believe that if they would embrace Marcus’s principles and ran it more like a business, I do believe numbers can change from red to black.
I have been a big fan of The Profit (FanPage) #cbnctheprofit for awhile now, as I have a tremendous amount of passion in helping local business entrepreneurs build their business online for a steady stream of clients in this new 21st century. In this season’s episodes, I really got involved with the show via Twitter and engaged a lot with the fans, CNBC and Marcus. It was truly amazing! I got to learn of Marcus Lemonis’s principles in helping local business entrepreneurs and I admire his advice and expertise. I used to be a local business entrepreneur myself so I understand their needs and Marcus’s principles to help them are bang on. People, Product, Process.
As there are so many (crazy) reality shows on TV, I always thought, “If they could just put one together for local business, it would fly and I would watch.” Just like Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue. Now, not all of them are crazy, but many are in my opinion.
Recently, he has taken his business principles to help out a fallen city, (The City Of Horton). There are so many townships, cities, etc., hit hard with the current changing times of the new information digital age, not to mention the recession of which many are still feeling the affects of such devastation.
One city has embraced his principles and it is working.
The people of The City Of Horton have just done an amazing job according to an article written by Yahoo. They have worked hard based on the recommendations given by Marcus. I hope through this story that others such as local businesses owners, mayors of townships, cities, etc., if in need to re-build for one reason or another, are inspired to implement some of his strategies. As proven over the past year, Marcus’s principles do work even in the smaller political whelm.
Wishing the City of Horton continued success as they re-build. I see their progress through pictures on their Facebook page and I am so proud of all the people’s efforts to help this small town community. Who would have ever thought!

Perhaps our government could implement a few strategies from Marcus. I always felt that if government policies where ran more like business policies I feel things would be a lot different. Black perhaps?
